Training Classes at The Dog Club

Obedience training teaches your dog to come when called, proper social behavior around people and other dogs, and self control.  In our Good Dog and Good Puppy Classes you will also learn how to stop behaviors that can damage your loving relationship with your dog and encourage those good behaviors which will bond you and your dog for life. Positive reinforcement dog training utilizes praise and rewards rather than punishment and corrections to teach dogs right from wrong.  Treats, toys, praise and affection are used to REWARD your dog. Reward-based training allows for happy dogs, happy people and a strong and healthy relationship. Puppies are never too young to learn and older dogs are never too old to learn new behaviors.  When your puppy starts going out in public, it is time to start class and teach him how to be a well-behaved community member.

About Our Good Puppy and Good Dog Classes

Traditionally, dog training classes start on a given day and last for 7 or 8 weeks.  If you missed the start date you have to wait almost 2 months to get started with training your dog.   

To better serve our clients and their dogs we have developed Open Enrollment Classes.  There are 4 "lessons" in our Good Dog Classes and 4 "lessons" in our Good Puppy Classes. You can start with any lesson.  No need to wait for weeks.  Get started training right away!

 

You may pay for each class individually, or purchase a package at a reduced rate.  Reservations in class are required as we can only take 8 dogs in each class. Purchase a package of 4 lessons and we will reserve your spot in class for the following 4 weeks once you start training.  You have 8 weeks to consume the 4 Pack. So please call ahead and book your spot in class. We feel this is the best way for you and your dog to learn, and the best way to meet your busy and flexible schedule. 

Our Introductory Class for Good Dog and Good Puppy Classes must be attended.  This is a free 30 minute class for just the humans. We will review vaccination records, make sure you understand how the classes work, and get you signed up for your first session with your dog.  You'll be given some homework to start working on before you attend your first class. 

Training Waiver

        Here is a waiver we ask you to fill out prior to attending classes:   Training Waiver

          Individual Class: $20

4 Pack: $75

If you purchase a 4 Pack, you will automatically have a spot reserved in class for the following 4 weeks. 4 Packs must be used within 8 weeks of starting training.   If you cannot attend class in a given week you may call and reschedule your lesson.  If you fail to cancel 24 hours before your scheduled class you will be charged for that class.

Good Dog Classes

Good Dog Classes are for dogs of all ages. There are 4 lessons and you may start at any time.  You may repeat sessions as often as you'd like to truly master the skills. We will begin every lesson with "attention" and "settling on a mat".  Sit, Down and Stand are reviewed and practiced every week.  As you improve, distractions will be introduced and you will be challenged to work at a greater distance from your dog.  Some important behaviors (Loose Leash Walking and Coming When Called) are repeated alternate weeks.

Lesson 2: Wait, Tricks, Say Please, Coming When Called

Lesson 3: Stay, Handling for grooming, Loose Leash Walking

 

Lesson 4: Targeting, No Jumping, Greeting Strangers, Fear, Coming When Called.
